Before you begin

Where can I set up media plans in Funnel?

Which subscription plan do I need?

  • Go to Plan > Media Plans.

Overview

After you create conventions for campaigns, ad groups, or ads in Funnel, you can generate names based on those conventions and store such names in a media plan. With a media plan, you can group your campaigns under a common goal and get an overview of their performance. This information helps you track towards your targets.

Prerequisites

Create a media plan

Complete the following steps to create a media plan.

  1. In Funnel, go to Plan > Media Plans.

  2. Click + New media plan.

  3. Enter a Name for your media plan.

  4. (Optional) Enter a Description for the media plan.

  5. (Optional) Set the Start date and End date.

Depending on the start and end date, the status of the media plan is set as follows:

    • When you set a past start date, but no end date, the media plan has the Draft status.

    • When you set a past start date, but no end date, the media plan has the Active status.

    • When you set a past start date and a future end date, the media plan has the Active status.

    • When you set a past start date and a past end date, the media plan has the Complete status.

    • When you set a past start date and the end date as today, the media plan has the Complete status.
You can view the status of your media plan in Plan > Media Plans.

  6. Click Create.

  7. Generate names from your conventions with Name Builder.

If you have not created any conventions, click Set a Convention. Create and apply the convention before you generate names with Name Builder.

    1. Click Name Builder.

    2. Select a convention from which you want to generate a name.

    3. Select a Platform.
The preview starts uploading on the right as you select the values.

    4. Select values for all variables in Parts of name.

      • The number of fields that appear under Parts of name is the same as the number of variables you create in your convention. For example, let’s assume you created a convention for LinkedIn platform with the following syntax: Region_Country_Tactic_Audience
Then, you have to select a region, country, tactic, and audience under the Parts of name section.

      • The valid values that you set for each variable when you created your convention populates as the drop-down list here. Select a value for each part of the name accordingly.
For example, let’s assume you set the following Allowed values for your variables when you created a convention:

        • Region: emea, apac, na

        • Country: uk, euo, kr, us

        • Tactic: gnric, comp, brand

        • Audience: g

The options for each variable in the Parts of name section will be the Allowed values you set when you created the convention.

      • Based on the values you select, you can see the various combinations that Funnel generates for you in the preview. Be mindful about the combinations, and Exclude them if needed. You can Restore a name.

    5. Create names.

After you create a media plan and generate names from a convention, you can view the following:

      • Media plan details

      • Generated names

      • Created and last updated details

You can categorize the names based on Groups or Platform. If your requirements change, you can generate new names from the Name Builder, Delete, or Edit the media plan.
