Query Funnel data in Snowflake through delta sharing without copying the data into Snowflake. Use this when you want Snowflake to read a Funnel export as shared tables.
Before you begin
A Funnel subscription with Delta Sharing exports enabled.
A Snowflake account with permission to create catalog integrations and databases.
Step 1: Create a Snowflake export
In Funnel, go to Export and click + Create Export.
Select Snowflake.
In the Delivery method pane, select Delta Sharing and click Continue.
In the Data type pane, select Data or Data sources and click Continue.
Note: Data exports your marketing data as tables. Data sources exports details about your connected data sources.
In the Authentication pane, click Continue. Delta sharing does not use Snowflake credentials.
In the Destination pane, enter an Export name, a Schema name and a Table name and click Continue. Use alphabets, numbers and underscores for the schema and table names. The table name must be unique within the schema.
Choose the data, time series, date range, schedule and click Save. Optionally, you can add notes.
In the export page, click Start. Then click More actions and select Run now.
After the export runs successfully, the table is included in the workspace share. In the export page, copy Unique share name from the Delta Sharing section. You use that name when you create the catalog integration.
Step 2: Generate Delta Sharing credentials
Snowflake needs a Delta Sharing credential file to connect to Funnel.
In Funnel, open your profile menu and select Subscription overview.
In the Subscription Management pane, select Users.
Select the System users tab.
Click + Create System user.
Enter a name, select Deltashare and click + Create.
Download the
.sharecredential file.
Keep this file secure. It provides access to your shared data.
The file contains the connection values you enter in Snowflake:
endpointclientIdclientSecrettokenEndpoint
Step 3: Create a catalog integration in Snowflake
Run this SQL in Snowflake. Replace each placeholder value in angle brackets with the matching value from the .share file or the unique share name.
CREATE OR REPLACE CATALOG INTEGRATION my_delta_sharing_int_oauth
CATALOG_SOURCE = DELTA_SHARING
TABLE_FORMAT = DELTA
REST_CONFIG = (
CATALOG_URI = <shareFile.endpoint>
CATALOG_NAME = 'shares/<unique_share_name_from_the_funnel_ui>'
ACCESS_DELEGATION_MODE = VENDED_CREDENTIALS
)
REST_AUTHENTICATION = (
TYPE = OAUTH
OAUTH_CLIENT_ID = <shareFile.clientId>
OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRET = <shareFile.clientSecret>
OAUTH_TOKEN_URI = <shareFile.tokenEndpoint>
OAUTH_ALLOWED_SCOPES = ('delta_sharing')
)
ENABLED = TRUE;For more information, see Configure a catalog integration for Delta Sharing in the Snowflake documentation.
Step 4: Create a linked database in Snowflake
Create a read-only database linked to the catalog integration.
CREATE OR REPLACE DATABASE delta_sharing_cld
LINKED_CATALOG = (
CATALOG = my_delta_sharing_int_oauth
ALLOWED_WRITE_OPERATIONS = 'NONE'
SYNC_INTERVAL_SECONDS = 30
);What to expect
After Snowflake creates the linked database, it synchronizes the shared metadata. You can browse that database and query the Funnel tables like any other read-only database in Snowflake.
