A ‘view’ is a pre-defined collection of fields, a currency, and an optional filter. By creating a view and connecting it to Google Data Studio you reduce the number fields in your report, making it a lot easier to work with.
The first time you visit the Data Studio page we will create a default view for you called 'Basic Data Studio view'. This view works together with a simple report template to get you started.
Creating a view
You can create a new view by clicking the '+ New View' button.
Note that you can filter the data that is available in the view. This means that only data that matches the filter is available in Data Studio reports. You could for instance filter out all ‘Organic’ data if you only wish to report on Paid traffic, or create a Data Source for your US market.
Any filters you create in Data Studio will be on top of any filter you have here.
Once you're happy with the options here click 'Save'. You will be taken to this page. You can now click the ‘Connect to Data Studio’ link.
This will take you directly to the Funnel connector with the connection settings filled in:
All you need to do is give the data source a name and click ‘CONNECT’ to create a new Data Source. You can then create a new report using this data source or add it to an existing report.
Using Data Studio without a view (legacy)
You can use Funnel and Data Studio together without creating a view. You can access your Funnel Token and account ID using the 'Show Token' button as seen below:
You can then create a new connection from Data Studio using the Funnel connector, found here. When asked, select 'No view, I want all my fields', like below:
If you have no views in your Funnel account this option will not be shown.
