A ‘view’ is a pre-defined collection of fields, a currency, and an optional filter. By creating a view and connecting it to Google Data Studio you reduce the number fields in your report, making it a lot easier to work with.

Note that you don’t have to create or use views! If you’re happy having all your fields in Data Studio you can still do that.

Creating a view

If you have no views the Data Studio page will look like this:

You can still connect to Data Studio without creating any views, just copy the Account ID and Token from this page and paste them into the Funnel connector, or click the 'Connect to Data Studio without a view' link.

Otherwise, click the ‘Create a new view’ button.

Note that you can filter the data that is available in the view. This means that only data that matches the filter is available in Data Studio reports. You could for instance filter out all ‘Organic’ data if you only wish to report on Paid traffic, or create a Data Source for your US market.

Any filters you create in Data Studio will be on top of any filter you have here.

Once you're happy with the options here click 'Save'.

You will be taken to this page. You can now click the ‘Connect to Data Studio’ button. This will take you directly to the Funnel connector with the connection settings filled in:

All you need to do is give the data source a name and click ‘CONNECT’ to create a new Data Source. You can then create a new report using this data source or add it to an existing report.
