Overview
LinkedIns algorithms can only optimise their targeting with data that they have, we want to make sure that they understand what is a critical business value to you. You decide what to send and all personally identifiable information is sent hashed with a one-way hashing algorithm.
You need to have the data of what defines a conversion in Funnel. The data could come from a CRM, CDP, POS, payment system, spreadsheet or many other places. Once the data is in Funnel you can send the valuable conversions/customers to LinkedIn that you want them to keep targeting and define how much each conversion/customer is worth.
1. Setting up a Conversion Rule in LinkedIn Ads
This can be done in LinkedIn Campaign Manager under Measurement > Conversion Tracking
2. Setting up a Conversion Upload in Funnel
The LinkedIn Ads Conversion Upload can be found under the Activate menu item.
2.1 Authenticate with your LinkedIn Ads user
Authenticate with a LinkedIn user that has access to the LinkedIn Ads account that you want to upload to.
2.2 Select your Conversion Upload destination
Choose the correct LinkedIn Ads Campaign Manager account and the choose the conversion rule which you want to send the conversion data to.
2.3 Selecting data fields
In this section you choose what data you want to send to your Conversion Rule. If you don't select a conversion time, the current UTC time will be used at the time of sending the conversion information. In order to be able to send conversions you also need to select at least one user identifier. If you choose to add additional User Info note that in order to send this information both First Name and Last Name need to have a value.
2.4 Setting filters
Dimension and metric filters can be added to filter the data the way you want.
It is strongly recommended to add filters on at least "Data Source type" and preferably on "Data Source" to make sure you don't get any extra rows when someone adds more Data Sources in you Funnel Workspace.
2.5 Setting uploading triggers
The upload triggers is what is used when we determine wether or not to send a conversion to LinkedIn. We recommend the default options but you can read more about how they work in this help article: Upload triggers for Conversion Uploads.
