Google Cloud Storage: Connection guide

How to connect Google Cloud Storage data to Funnel with a data request, including bucket access options.

How to get these dimensions and metrics in your workspace?

What do you need?

Submit a data request. See Request new data in Funnel.

  • Business or Enterprise plan

  • Include the following information in your data request: + Data platform origin (for example, Shopify Orders or Internal Enrollment) + Exact file name as it appears in your GCS bucket + Access to your GCS bucket (read-only) — follow one of the options below

Grant Funnel access to your GCS bucket

You have two options to provide Funnel with access:

Option 1: Allow Funnel’s service account access to your bucket

  1. Log in to your Google Cloud Console.

  2. Navigate to Storage → Cloud Storage → Browser.

  3. Find and select the relevant bucket.

  4. Click “Edit Bucket Permissions.”

  5. Grant access to the following service account: funnel-customs-account@funnel-customs.iam.gserviceaccount.com

  6. Assign the Storage Object Viewer role to this account.

  7. Copy the URI of the bucket (for example: https://console.cloud.google.com/storage/browser/_details/{bucket}/{path}) and include it in your request.

Option 2: Provide a service account for Funnel to assume

If you prefer, you can provide Funnel with a dedicated service account that we can assume to access your bucket.

  • Ensure the service account has read-only access (Storage Object Viewer role) to the necessary files or buckets.

  • Share the service account details and any required credentials with Funnel securely as part of your request.

Once you’ve submitted your request and provided access (via either option), our team will review and proceed with setting up your Google Cloud Storage data request.
