When you connect the Instagram Insights connector with Funnel, you get the following dimensions and metrics based on the report type you select.

  • Account Insights: Select this report type if you want account-level data for a day. This report type will download data for the last 30 days.

  • Media Insights: Select this report type if you want data per media post. All metrics reflect accumulated lifetime value, attributed to the date the post was first published. This report type will download one year of data by default.

  • Audience Lifetime: Select this report if you want account-level data regarding your audience over the account's lifetime. The data in this report is non-aggregatable. This report type will not download any data before the connection date of the data source.

The following table lists the dimensions and metrics that you can obtain when you connect to a data source from Instagram Insights based on the report type you select. Deprecated metrics are no longer supported by Instagram Insights.

Limitations of metrics from Instagram Insights

  • Reels support only the following metrics:

    • Likes

    • Comments

    • Reach

    • Saved

    • Shares

    • Plays

    • Reels Interactions
Fields like video views and impressions are reported as 0.

  • IGTV and Instagram Stories are not available.

  • Videos in carousel albums always report 0 views.

  • Historical data is not available for Account Insights or Audience Lifetime reports.

  • For Media Insights report, reach out to Funnel Support for historical posts data beyond 1000 posts back.

  • If you have connected with the Media Insights report, any media that was posted before the Instagram account was converted to a business account will have zero values for the following metrics:

    • Impressions

    • Reach

    • Engagement

    • Saved

    • Carousel Album Impressions

    • Carousel Album Reach

    • Carousel Album Engagement

    • Carousel Album Saved

  • If you have connected with the Account Insights report there will only be data available from the time when the account was converted to a business account.

  • Instagram Insights API uses sample data to find a compromise between accuracy and performance. This means that they allow a small percentage of error in the data they return.
