Problem summary
You can't create Microsoft Advertising credentials in Funnel, so you can't connect a Microsoft Advertising data source.
Error message or symptoms
When you sign in to Microsoft to create the credentials, you see one of these:
A dialog asking you to request admin approval.
A Need admin approval dialog.
A Funnel authentication error.
When does this occur
The Microsoft account you sign in with doesn't meet Microsoft Advertising's requirements for granting consent to Funnel.
You sign in with a work account, and your organization's Microsoft Entra ID configuration restricts consent to third-party apps.
Root cause
To create credentials, you sign in to a Microsoft account and give Funnel consent to manage it. Microsoft only allows this when the account has two-step authentication turned on, is signed up to Microsoft Advertising, and is a user on the Microsoft Advertising account you want to connect.
Work accounts have extra conditions. The Microsoft Advertising account must require sign-in with a work account, and your organization's Entra configuration must allow the work account to consent to Funnel.
Solution
Check that your account meets every condition in Microsoft Advertising: Connection guide.
If you see an admin approval dialog, submit the request and contact the person or team who manages work accounts in your organization. After they approve it, try to create the credentials again.
If you still can't connect, ask your global Azure administrator to sign up to Microsoft Advertising with their own work account. Make sure that account has access to the data you need, then use it to create the credentials in Funnel.
