Are you already a Funnel user who wants more information on how this feature works? Check out the article Request Credentials from someone else – How does it work?.

Why did I receive the link?

If you read this article, someone has sent you a link to get your help to add data to Funnel. First, make sure you trust the person sending the link to you. This link is generated inside the Funnel interface; if you click it, it will guide you through an authentication flow where you add platform-specific (e.g., Facebook Ads, Google Ads, or GA4) Credentials to be used by the link generator. Just so you know, the sender will ONLY be able to use your Credentials to import data into Funnel, they will NOT see your username, password, or the like. In the step after authentication, you decide what accounts you'd like the generator to get access to. This choice is available for most platforms but not all due to technical limitations. When doing this, the credentials will be stored and will only become available to the person generating the link. Learn more about how Funnel works with Security.

How will the link generator use your credentials?

To add new data to Funnel one must permit Funnel to do so. When giving permissions by authenticating, Funnel can ONLY import data from the chosen accounts and will not manage or change anything in the account itself. The credentials will be available and stored on the link generator’s funnel user until the Funnel user removes them.

How can I revoke Funnel’s access to the platform I authenticated to?

There are three ways in which you can make your added Credentials unusable. These actions will also break any imports set up using your Credentials.

If you wish Funnel and the sender of the link to no longer process your credentials, option 1 is the only alternative.

  1. Ask the generator/sender of the link to remove your Credentials and the Data Sources connected using it. This is done in the Funnel interface on the pages ‘Data Sources’ -> ‘My Credentials’.

  2. For most larger platforms, you can manage third-party connections (e.g., Funnel) in the platform itself. By removing Funnel from that list, the Credential in Funnel will break immediately, and there will be no successful imports in the future. Below is a list of platform-specific instructions on how to remove third-party connections. Note that historical data imported using your Credentials will remain until a user removes the Data Sources authenticated with that Credential.

  3. For platforms where you’ve manually used an email, password, API token, entity ID or similar when authenticating, you can revoke access by changing the password or refreshing the API token in the platform. The Credential in Funnel will break immediately and there will be no future successful imports. Note that historical data imported using your Credentials will remain until a user removes the Data Sources authenticated with that Credential.
