This feature is available to users on the Business and Enterprise plans. For more information about Funnel plans and pricing, contact support@funnel.io or check out the plans.

How does it work?

When connecting any Data Source to Funnel, you can either add your Credentials or Generate a link and send it to the person with access to the account you want to connect to Funnel. Generating a link is secure and should eliminate the need to invite people to Funnel to add only their Credentials.

Once the external person clicks the link, the receiver will go through a flow where they:

  1. Authenticate to the selected platform – similar to when adding Credentials yourself

  2. Specify access level – Choosing what accounts you, as the Funnel user, should get access to. There are two choices: Full access or Limited access by account.

Full access will give you access to all accounts connected to the Credentials now and in the future.

Limited access lets the link receiver select what specific accounts you should get access to.

  3. Done and ready to use! The added Credentials will appear in the list of Credentials in the 'My Credentials' section to the left on the same screen as above. These Credentials will be tagged with 'External'.

How can the external person revoke their Credentials?

There are three ways in which you, or the external person, can make the added Credential unusable. These actions will also break any imports set up using your Credentials.

If the external person wishes for Funnel to no longer process and store the credentials, option 1 is the only alternative.

  1. Remove the credentials and the data sources connected to it. This is done on the ‘Data Sources’ page and ‘My Credentials’.

  2. For most larger platforms, one can manage third-party connections (e.g., Funnel) in the platform itself. By removing Funnel from that list, the Credentials in Funnel will break immediately, and there will be no successful imports in the future. Below is a list of platform-specific instructions on how to remove third-party connections. Note that historical data imported using the Credentials will remain until you remove the Data Sources authenticated with those Credentials.

  3. For platforms where the external person manually inputs an email, password, API token, entity ID, or similar when authenticating, access can be revoked by changing the password or refreshing the API token in the platform. The credentials in Funnel will break immediately, and there will be no successful imports in the future. Note that historical data imported using those Credentials will remain until you remove the Data Sources authenticated with those Credentials.
