General information about Adobe Analytics 2.0 and Dimensions and metrics in your Report Suite

Overview

Adobe Analytics 2.0 (2.0 API) shares many similarities with the old Adobe Analytics connector (which uses the 1.4 API version) but is more performant and has some additional improvements when connecting.

Similarly to the old connector, you can select the dimensions and calculated and custom metrics (if any) you want. In Adobe 2.0, you can also alter the default metrics downloaded to better suit different use cases.

We recommend selecting as few dimensions as possible and instead using segmentation when needed. Preferably, multiple data sources should be connected with non-overlapping segments. Adobe recommends not connecting more than four dimensions, so we have a hard cap on four dimensions.

The metric data in Adobe Analytics is heavily dependent on dimension configuration. Hence, the data is set to non-aggregatable in Funnel. Read more on the topic here.

Information on the prerequisites needed to connect an Adobe 2.0 source can be found here.

Available dimensions

You can break down the data in the dimension list according to your needs. However, as mentioned above, the main reason for data miss-matches comes from performance issues where too many dimensions in combination with the amount of data results in incomplete data retrievals.

The dimensions you can choose in the dimension list are a combination of

  • Standard dimensions

  • Dynamic dimensions

The available dimensions for the credential you use in Funnel will be shown depending on what dimensions on your Adobe Anlytics setup . They can be selected when connecting a source in "Select Dimensions".

Standard dimensions.

By default, data in Funnel is always broken down by date.

The following list of dimensions is available if the credential you are using has access to them.

  • Browser

  • Browser Type

  • Category

  • Customer Loyalty

  • Domain

  • Entry Page

  • First Touch Marketing Channel

  • First Touch Marketing Channel Detail

Dynamic dimensions

You can also choose from user-specific dimensions, which are shared with the credentials used in Funnel. Read more about how to share the user-specified dimensions in Adobe Analytics with the credentials here

If you are connecting multiple data sources, make sure to toggle "Configure sources individually" to see all report suite-specific options.

Segmentation Filters

As mentioned above, breaking down by selecting several dimensions can lead to performance issues. One way to work around this is to leverage the segmentation filters in Adobe Analytics instead.

When connecting a source, you can use any segmentation filter created in Adobe Analytics and share it with the credentials used in Funnel.

When selecting multiple segments, Funnel uses stacked segments, i.e., the segments are combined using an "and" operator.

Available metrics

Depending on your use case, you can select the metrics you want in the Adobe Analytics 2.0 connector.

The amount of metrics will not impact the performance in the same way as dimensions.

The metrics available depend on how the report suite has been set up in Adobe Analytics and the permissions on the credentials you connect to the source within Funnel. See also how to connect regarding permissions on the credential.

The metrics available can be divided into three types:

  • Standard metrics - Metrics supported in Analysis Workspace

  • Content-aware metrics - Metrics that need additional integrations in your Adobe setup.

  • Dynamic Metrics - User-specified metrics in Adobe Analytics

Standard metrics

Funnel supports many standard metrics. When connecting a new source, the metrics marked in bold are selected by default in the "Select standard metrics" section.

  • Average Page Depth

  • Average Time Spent on Page

  • Average Time Spent on Site

  • Average Visit Depth

  • Bounce Rate

  • Bounces

  • Cart Additions

  • Cart Removals

  • Carts

  • Cart Views

  • Checkouts

  • Entries

  • Exits

  • Total time spent (also known as itemtimespent)

  • Orders

  • Page Views

  • Revenue

  • Single Access

  • Single Page Visits

  • Single Value Visits

  • Units

  • Visitors

  • Visits

Content-aware metrics

Adobe Advertising-Adobe Analytics Integration Only

If availible, you can select these in the "Select standard metrics"

  • Content Completes (previously videocomplete)

  • Content Segment Views (previously videosegmentviews)

  • Content Time Spent (previously videotime)

  • Media Initiates (previously videostart)

  • Video Ads Complete

  • Video Ads Start

  • Video Views

  • Video Visits

  • AMO Clicks

  • AMO Cost

  • AMO Impressions

  • AMO Position

Dynamic Metrics

We download these user-specific metrics (and metrics shared with the user from other report suites) if they are selected when connecting a data source.

If you are connecting multiple data sources, make sure to toggle "Configure sources individually" to see all report suite-specific options.

Available time windows

In the connection dialogue, it is possible to select how many days each data point should include. The available options are 1 day, 7 day, and Calendar month (month-to-date). For example, when selecting the 7-day time window, the resulting data would mean that looking at a Sunday, you get all of the data for Monday through Sunday.
