Funnel is in the process of getting listed in Claude's connector directory. Use this article when you add Funnel MCP to Claude as a custom connector (manual MCP server entry) until Funnel is listed there or your organization requires a custom configuration.
Claude authenticates to Funnel with OAuth 2.0. Funnel MCP is read-only: it reads data and definitions from Funnel and does not create or change data sources, fields, dashboards, exports, or other Funnel configuration.
Funnel MCP is available for all plans and does not consume flexpoints.
For tools, example prompts, and other MCP clients, see Quick start guide: Using Funnel MCP.
Before you begin
What you need | Details |
Funnel workspace access | A Funnel account with access to at least one workspace and at least one connected data source so queries return results. |
Claude custom connector access | Permission to add a custom connector in your Claude surface (Claude.ai, desktop, Claude Code, or Cowork). See Anthropic's Third-party connectors with remote MCP or Use connectors to extend Claude's capabilities. |
MCP server URL | The regional Server URL for your account. Copy it from Funnel AI > MCP in Funnel (see Connect Funnel MCP from Funnel AI) or use the regional table below. Do not guess endpoint URLs. |
Note: In some organizations, an administrator must allow custom connectors or approve the OAuth client before you can connect.
Add Funnel MCP as a custom connector in Claude
Follow the Adding custom connectors section in Anthropic's documentation for the full flow (for example Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector). Steps differ by plan and interface; use the section that matches yours.
When you configure the connector, use these Funnel-specific values:
Name: Enter a label that helps you recognize this connector in Claude (for example
Funnel MCP).
Remote MCP server URL: Funnel runs MCP on regional infrastructure. Use the MCP server URL for the region where your data resides.
Where does your data reside? | Funnel subscription URL | Funnel MCP server URL |
Global (default) |
|
|
EU |
|
|
Note: Do not guess MCP server URLs. Use the URL shown in Funnel AI > MCP for your account or the values in this table.
Leave the fields under Advanced settings empty. Claude registers OAuth dynamically and does not need a static OAuth client ID.
Select Add and complete the browser sign-in flow for Funnel. Approve the requested permissions.
In Settings > Connectors, open your Funnel MCP connector. Under Tool permissions, choose when Claude may use each tool (for example Needs approval, Always allow, or Deny). You can set permissions for all read-only tools at once or for each tool individually.
Important: Funnel MCP tools are read-only. Claude cannot change Funnel configuration through Funnel MCP.
For privacy and support, see the Funnel privacy notice and Funnel Support 101.
Verify the connection
Start a new chat (or session, in Claude Code or Cowork) and ask something only Funnel can answer for your account, for example:
List the workspaces I can access in Funnel. In my workspace, list available platforms and the main metrics I can query.
Troubleshoot: Connection has expired
When your Funnel MCP connection expires, you see Connection issue in Claude and a prompt to reconnect and sign in again. You may also see a warning icon next to the Funnel connector in Connectors under Not connected.
In Settings > Connectors, select your Funnel custom connector, then select Connect.
When the browser opens, sign in to Funnel. Use the sign-in method your organization requires and complete the sign-in flow.
When the page displays Connected, return to Claude.
In Settings > Connectors, confirm the warning is gone, then run your verification prompt again in a new chat.
Result
Claude is connected to Funnel MCP with OAuth. You can query workspace data and field definitions from Claude using read-only Funnel MCP tools.
