Invalid spreadsheet files in Google Sheets

Convert an Excel or CSV file to native Google Sheets format before importing it into Funnel.

Problem summary

Funnel cannot import an Excel or CSV file that you open in Google Sheets. You must convert the file to Google Sheets format.

Error message or symptoms

The file is not a valid Google Sheets Spreadsheet

When does this occur

  • The file is an .xlsx or .csv file stored in Google Drive.

  • You opened the file in Google Sheets but did not convert it to Google Sheets format.

Root cause

The Google Sheets connector supports files in Google Sheets format. It does not support Excel or CSV files.

Solution

  1. Open the file in Google Sheets.

    ​

  2. Go to File > Save as Google Sheets.

    ​

  3. In Funnel, create an import that uses the new Google Sheets file.
