Creative reporting lets you analyze your ad performance together with the creatives behind it. Funnel imports creative assets and metadata from advertising platforms, so you can use them in dashboards and downstream workflows.
Funnel now downloads and stores the actual images and videos (assets) from your advertising platforms, instead of only referencing them by URL. This gives you:
Videos in dashboards. You can now view videos directly in your dashboards, in addition to images.
More robust creative reporting. Because Funnel stores the images and videos, your creatives don't disappear when a platform URL expires.
A foundation for AI analysis. Having the assets available lets Funnel AI analyze your creatives in the future.
Creative reporting is initially available for the following platforms:
Facebook Ads
Google Ads
TikTok Ads
Support for the other platforms is not available yet. See What is supported.
This article covers both setting up creative reporting from scratch, and updating a data source that you already have.
How creative reporting works
Each advertising platform needs a specific data source configuration before Funnel can collect creative data. In most cases, you select the correct report type or report level, or you enable additional options such as Ad Creative data.
When your data source has the right configuration, Funnel collects your creative fields and metadata, and then downloads the assets. After that, you can use them in dashboards.
What is supported
The first table shows what is supported for each platform. The second table shows what you need to set up. The third table shows what requires a reconnect. Use the platform guide for the full procedure.

When you need to reconnect
Funnel downloads the assets that the credentials of your data source have permission to access. For some campaign types and asset types, additional permissions are needed. You give these permissions by reconnecting the data source. For the steps, see 'How to reconnect'.
Platform | Requires a reconnect |
Facebook Ads | Downloading videos |
TikTok Ads | Boosted ads |
How to reconnect
Reconnect your data source to give Funnel the additional permissions it needs to download videos from Facebook Ads, or assets from Boosted ads in TikTok Ads. Reconnecting changes the credentials of the data source.
Facebook Ads
Follow these steps to reconnect your Facebook Ads data source and give Funnel permission to download videos from your Facebook Pages:
Go to Data > Data sources.
Find your data source, open the actions menu (⋮) at the end of the row, and select Reconnect.
In the Reconnect data source window, under Select credentials, select Continue with Facebook.
If you have several Facebook credentials, the button says Add credentials instead. Select Add credentials, select Facebook and then select Continue with Facebook.
In the Facebook window, select Edit settings. This is important. If you select Continue, Facebook uses your previous settings, and your credentials are not updated with the new permissions.
Choose the Pages you want Funnel to access:
Recommended: Opt in to all current and future Pages gives Funnel access to your current Pages, and to any Pages you create in the future.
Opt in to current Pages only gives Funnel access only to the Pages you select. Make sure you select all the Pages that your ad videos are fetched from.
Then select Continue and follow the remaining steps from Facebook.
Back in Funnel, make sure the new credentials are selected, and then select Reconnect.
Wait for your assets to load. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours.
Important: When you reconnect, you give Funnel permission to download videos from your Facebook Pages. This is not always enough on its own. You also need to ensure that the Facebook credential you are using in Funnel has access to the relevant Facebook Pages. Please see this article from Meta on how to manage page access!
TikTok Ads
Follow the same steps as for Facebook Ads. When TikTok asks which permissions to give Funnel, grant the permissions it asks for, so that Funnel can download assets from Boosted ads.
Get started
How you get started depends on whether you're connecting a new data source or already have one. Both paths use the configuration listed in Required configuration.
If you're setting up a new data source
Connect your data source. Connect your Facebook Ads, Google Ads, or TikTok Ads data source and select the configuration listed in Required configuration. Use the platform guide for the full procedure.
Wait for your data to load. Funnel collects your data first, and then downloads the assets. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours.
Build a dashboard. Add a Creatives grid or Creatives table to a dashboard to see your creatives next to your metrics. See Build a dashboard.
Optional: export your creatives. To send creative assets to object storage, see Set up a creative export.
If you already have a data source
Open your data source and compare its configuration with the Required configuration table for your platform.
If your configuration already matches
You don't need to change your configuration. Funnel has already downloaded the assets that the credentials of your data source have permission to access.
Some campaign types and asset types need additional permissions. If you're missing assets, for example videos from Facebook Ads or Boosted ads from TikTok Ads, check When you need to reconnect.
If your configuration doesn't match
Reconnect the data source with the required configuration, or connect a new data source with the correct configuration.
Wait for your data and assets to load. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours.
When your data and assets are available, build a dashboard. See Build a dashboard.
Build a dashboard
After your data and assets are available, you can visualize your creatives in a dashboard.
Go to Report > Dashboards, and then create a new dashboard or open an existing one.
Select Add chart, and then, under Creatives, choose Creatives grid or Creatives table.
In Chart settings, enter a Title for the chart.
Select the Image reporting level. Use Ad for Facebook Ads and TikTok Ads. Google Ads also supports Asset. See Common chart settings.
Under Dimensions, add the fields you want to break your creatives down by, for example Campaign and Traffic source.
Under Metrics, add the metrics you want to compare, for example Cost, Clicks, and Impressions.
Choose which assets to include:
Turn on Hide rows without an asset to show only rows that have a creative.
Under Show, select All, Images, or Videos.
Select Save.
Common chart settings
These settings are available in both the creatives grid and the creatives table.
Image reporting level
An asset can be attributed at different reporting levels. The reporting level decides which asset is matched to each row in your chart, and which performance metrics are connected to that asset.
In the most common case, you want to know how an ad performs. You then want to see which image belongs to each ad ID, together with the performance metrics for that ad. Use the Ad level for this. It is the level to use for Facebook Ads and TikTok Ads.
For Google Ads, you can also analyze your assets at a more granular level, for example to find out which assets perform best across several ads. To do this, select the Asset level.
The Asset level is only supported for Google Ads. If you select it for Facebook Ads or TikTok Ads, no images are shown. This is expected and doesn't mean that something is wrong with your data source.
Hide rows without an asset
When this setting is turned on, Funnel filters out rows where it hasn't found a saved asset for the selected Image reporting level and breakdown. Turn it off if you also want to see rows that don't have an asset.
Show
Use this setting to choose which type of assets to show. Select Images to show only images, Videos to show only videos, or All to show both.
Creatives grid
Use the creatives grid to browse your creatives as cards. Each card shows the creative, your selected dimensions, and your selected metrics.
In addition to the common settings, the grid has these options:
Image position: Choose Contain to fit the whole image inside its frame, or Cover to fill the frame.
Order by: Sort the creatives by a metric, and choose Largest first or Smallest first.
Items per page: Set how many creatives appear on each page.
If a creative has more than one asset, use the arrows below the creative to browse them.
Creatives table
Use the creatives table to compare creatives side by side, with your dimensions and metrics in columns. Each row shows a thumbnail of the creative, and the number on the thumbnail shows how many additional assets the creative has.
In addition to the common settings, the table has these options:
Rows per page: Set how many rows appear on each page.
Show total row: Add a row that summarizes the metrics across all creatives.
Text wrapping: Wrap long values onto multiple lines instead of truncating them.
If creative data does not appear
No images are shown. Check that the Image reporting level is set to Ad for Facebook Ads and TikTok Ads. The Asset level only shows images for Google Ads.
Your configuration doesn't match. Verify that the required report type and reporting level are selected. See Required configuration.
Your data hasn't loaded yet. After you connect a data source or change its configuration, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours before your data and assets are available.
Videos or Boosted ads are missing. Downloading videos from Facebook Ads and Boosted ads from TikTok Ads require a reconnect. See How to reconnect. For Facebook Ads, also check that the owner of the Page has given your Facebook account permission to download videos from the Page.
