After connecting your GA4 data via BigQuery and your advertising channels in Funnel, the next step is to create a data export in Funnel. This export sends your GA4 event data to the measurement pipeline so it can be used for modeling.
During this step, you also create the custom dimensions required by the model: Brand and Market.
Before you begin
Ensure you complete the following:
Connect your advertising channels in Funnel.
Connect your data source using the GA4 via BigQuery MTA connector in Funnel.
Get confirmation from us that your data is flowing correctly.
Create the GA4 events export
In Funnel, go to Export in the left-hand menu.
Select Create Export.
Search for Funnel Measurement, select it and click Next.
Select GA4 events as the report to export.
Select the data source you connected using the GA4 via BigQuery MTA connector.
Under Required fields, review the list. Most fields are already present, but two are missing: Brand and Market.
Select Create missing fields to let Funnel create these dimensions with the correct header format automatically.
Select Save.
The export is now created.
Tip: Using Create missing fields in the export workflow is the recommended method. It ensures the dimension headers are in the correct format for the measurement pipeline.
Handoff: After you've created the export, let us know so we can create Brand and Market dimensions and verify the configuration before you proceed.
