Manage exports in Funnel AI

Create, run and turn exports on or off from a Funnel AI chat.

Ask Funnel AI to set up a scheduled export to Google Sheets, Google BigQuery or Google Cloud Storage without leaving the chat. You can also ask about your existing exports, turn an export off or on and run an export right away.

Supported destinations

Funnel AI can create exports to Google Sheets, Google BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage. Set up exports to other destinations in Funnel.

In the chat, you can:

  • Ask about your exports and views, including Looker Studio, Tableau and Power BI views.

  • Create an export to Google Sheets, Google BigQuery or Google Cloud Storage.

  • Turn an export off or on.

  • Run an export now, for its own date range or for the dates you choose.

In the chat, you can't:

  • Edit or delete an export. Make those changes on the export in Funnel.

  • Choose a schedule other than daily.

  • Use a Google service account for BigQuery or Cloud Storage exports. To use one, set up the export in Funnel.

  • Use export actions in scheduled tasks. Ask about or change exports in a live chat.

Before you begin

  • You have access to the workspace. This is enough to ask about exports and views.

  • To create, turn off, turn on or run an export, you have permission to edit exports in the workspace. If you don't, ask your workspace admin for access.

  • To create an export, you have a Google account that can write to the destination: the spreadsheet, the BigQuery project or the Cloud Storage bucket.

Ask about your exports

Ask Funnel AI which exports and views the workspace has. Funnel AI lists each one with its name, type, destination and whether it's turned on. Ask about one export to see its fields, date range, filters, currency, schedule and its last and next run.

For example:

  • Which exports do we have, and which ones are turned off?

  • When did the Weekly spend export last run, and what does it include?

Funnel AI can also read Looker Studio, Tableau and Power BI views. Views have no schedule or date range. Funnel AI can show an export's data in the chat and tells you when the result is approximate. It never shows the credentials an export uses.

Create an export

  1. In the top bar, click Show AI chat, or press Cmd+J (Mac) or Ctrl+J (Windows). You can also go to AI > New chat in the left menu.

  2. Describe the export: the dimensions and metrics, the destination, the date range and what time it should run. For example: Export cost by date and connector for the last 30 days to BigQuery, daily at 06:00.

Note: Google BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage exports must include the Date dimension.

  3. If Funnel AI shows the Connect a Google account card, click Connect Google account and sign in with a Google account that can write to the destination. Then click Check for connections.

Note: A Google connection made only for Google Sheets can't write to BigQuery or Cloud Storage. From the chat, BigQuery and Cloud Storage exports use your own Google account. To use a service account, set up the export in Funnel.

  4. Review the approval card. It shows the destination, the Google account, the dimensions and metrics, the dates, the currency, any filters or data source and the schedule. The card also says what the export changes, for example that it replaces everything in a Google Sheets tab now and on every scheduled run.

  5. Click Create and run to create the export and start the first run right away, or click Create export. To discard the export, click Cancel.

What Funnel writes

Google Sheets

A tab in a new or existing spreadsheet. Each run replaces everything in the tab. You can't use a tab that another export already writes to.

Google BigQuery

A date-partitioned table in your own project, written in monthly parts. The default table name is funnel_data. If the dataset doesn't exist, Funnel creates it. The dataset location defaults to your Funnel region.

Google Cloud Storage

Gzipped CSV files in the folder you choose, one file per month.

Schedule, dates and other options

  • Schedule: Exports you create in the chat run daily at the time and timezone you choose. The default is 06:00 UTC.

  • Dates: Use a rolling range, such as the last 7 days or the last 3 months, with or without complete periods only. Or set a fixed start and end date. The default is the last 30 days.

  • Currency: The export uses the workspace currency unless you ask for no currency conversion.

  • Filters: Filter on dimension values with is, is not or is one of.

  • Data source: You can limit the export to one data source.

Turn an export off or on

  1. Ask Funnel AI to turn off or turn on an export. For example: Turn off the Daily cost to Sheets export.

  2. Review the Turn export off or Turn export on card.

  3. Click Turn off or Turn on.

A turned-off export stops running until you turn it on again. Funnel keeps its configuration.

Run an export now

  1. Ask Funnel AI to run an export. For example: Run the BigQuery cost export now for 1 to 15 October.

  2. Review the Run export now card. The Dates row shows the dates you asked for, or the export's own date range.

  3. Click Run now.

The next scheduled run doesn't change. To run a turned-off export, turn it on first.

Ask where you can send data

Ask Funnel AI Where can I send my data? Funnel AI lists the destinations you can set up from the chat. For other destinations, it gives you a link to create the export in Funnel.

Choose which changes need your approval

In AI > Tool permissions, under Exports, you can set these actions to Always allow: Create exports, Turn exports on or off and Run exports now. Funnel AI then makes those changes without showing a card, and the chat shows Auto-approved by tool permissions. If a card shows Always allow, click it to approve the change and skip the card for that action from then on. For more, see Manage tool permissions in Funnel AI.

Use Funnel MCP

You can do the same tasks from an AI client connected to Funnel MCP, such as Claude or ChatGPT. Your AI client shows you each change and asks you to approve it before Funnel makes it. For the steps and limits, see Manage exports using Funnel MCP.

To connect a client, see Quick start guide: Using Funnel MCP.

What to expect

The new export appears with your other exports in Funnel and runs every day at the time you set. If you clicked Create and run, the first run starts right away.

Funnel can't check up front that your Google account can write to the BigQuery project or Cloud Storage bucket. If the table or files don't appear, open the export in Funnel and check its run status.
