Overview

Welcome to Funnel! This article helps you connect your first data source, choose how to explore it, and share your results.

Prerequisites

  • Access to at least one ad account like Google Ads, Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, or so on.

  • Access to a destination. Funnel supports exporting to:

    • An external destination like Looker Studio, Google Sheets, Power BI, BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift

    • An internal destination like a Funnel dashboard or a view.

  • A Funnel workspace.

Step 1. Connect your first data source

  1. Log into your Funnel workspace: https://app.funnel.io/#/accounts

  2. Go to Connect > Data sources.

  3. Authorize Funnel and confirm access.

  4. Configure the data source settings.

  5. Save the connection.

Step 2. Standardize and map fields

  1. Review dimensions and metrics such as Campaign, Spend, and Impressions.

  2. Adjust the naming if needed.

Tip: Start with a small set of fields. You can add more later without breaking your setup.

Step 3. Choose your path to insights

After connecting a data source and organizing your fields, decide how you want to use your data.

You can:

  • Create a dashboard in Funnel and share it using a portal.

  • Create a view and share it.

  • Send data to external destinations.

  • Activate your data in ad platforms.

Tip: You can explore multiple paths later. Start with the option that gets you value fastest.

Option A. Create and share a view

Create a filtered dataset that others can reuse.

  1. Go to Views and select one of the templates from the left pane.
There are 3 categories of views you can choose from: custom, standard, and tailored
You can also create a view from the Data Explorer page.

  2. Select your data sources and apply filters.

  3. Choose metrics and dimensions.

  4. Share the view with others.

Tip: Create one view per purpose, for example, one for paid social and one for search campaigns.

Option B. Create and share a dashboard in Funnel

  1. Go to Dashboards > + Create dashboard.

  2. Add charts and tables.

  3. Share the dashboard link.

To share multiple dashboards as a portal:

  1. Go to Portals > + Create portal.

Note: Anyone with the portal link can view dashboards inside it.

Option C. Send your data to a destination

Use Funnel Exports to send your data to almost any external tool. This includes dashboards, warehouses, CRMs, analytics platforms, and spreadsheets.

If you do not see your preferred tool, we can create a custom destination for your workspace.

Popular destination categories:

  • Business intelligence tools

  • Data warehouses and storage

  • CRM and analytics tools

  • Measurement and modeling tools

  • Spreadsheets

Steps

  1. Go to Export > + Create Export.

  2. Select your tool or platform from the list.

  3. Authorize Funnel to connect.

  4. Choose the metrics and dimensions to export.

  5. Set your currency and sync schedule.

  6. Start the export and verify your data in the destination.

Tips:

  • Start with only the essential fields you need for your first report. You can add more later without disrupting the export.

  • If you do not see your destination listed, submit a request for a custom destination. A custom destination can be created for your workspace.

Option D. Activate your data in ad platforms

  1. Go to Activate > Get started.

  2. Select your advertising platform.

  3. Map your Funnel fields to platform fields.

  4. Schedule the upload.

  5. Confirm results in your ad platform.

Tip: Align uploads with your campaign reporting cycles.

Step 4. Backfill and schedule updates

  • Contact Funnel support to import past data.

  • Turn on error notifications for data sources and exports.

Note: The longer the lookback period, the more time it may take to import data.

Step 5. Validate and share

  • Open your dashboard, warehouse query, Activate workflow, or view.

  • Confirm that the data looks correct.

  • Share results with your team or clients.
