Channel vs. Spend Mapping

How the channel mapping can affect your spend mapping

Note: Adtriba Core is a legacy feature that we continue to support but no longer sell. The latest version of this feature is available as Funnel Measurement.
If you are already using Funnel Measurement, find more information here. To upgrade, contact us.

Channel mapping groups your incoming traffic into a structure that fits your organization.

You can group campaigns into larger clusters or break clusters apart to show campaigns as they arrive.

How does channel mapping affect spend mapping?

The spend mapper uses whatever campaigns appear in Adtriba. It also uses the structure you define through channel mapping for your Adtriba campaigns.

This gives you more flexibility to match Funnel campaigns to the correct Adtriba campaigns or campaign clusters.

This flexibility has a cost. After you map campaigns in the spend mapper, consider how channel mapping changes could affect your existing mappings.

Example

Current channel mapping:

All campaigns with summer2019 in their campaign parameter are clustered under campaign= Global_summer2019.

Current spend mapping:

Funnel campaign xyz ----> Global_summer2019

Funnel campaign abc ----> Global_summer2019

Later, you remove the rule that clusters all campaigns with summer2019 in their campaign parameter.

You then get several individual campaigns instead of only global_summer2019.

This affects spend mapping and all connections between Funnel campaigns matched to Global_summer2019 Adtriba campaigns. Those connections are no longer valid, and the previously mapped campaigns return to unmapped status.

Think about how channel mapping changes could affect spend mapping before you save them.
