Note: Funnel AI was formerly known as Data Chat.
Funnel AI is Funnel's conversational assistant. Use Funnel AI to explore your marketing data in the workspace or get product guidance from Funnel's help documentation. Ask questions about metrics, dimensions and campaigns; how to use Funnel, field definitions, and troubleshooting; and get answers with charts, tables, and explanations. Responses are AI-generated.

Funnel AI use cases
Ask natural-language questions about your metrics, dimensions, and campaigns.
Get instant visualizations with automatically generated charts and tables.
Attach screenshots (PNG or JPEG) and ask questions about what you see.
Save charts and selected text from responses to dashboards.
Open results in Data Explorer for deeper analysis.
Ask how-to questions about Funnel features, field explanations, and product guidance.
Save business rules and preferences to your workspace so Funnel AI remembers them across sessions, or add workspace instructions and skills manually for your team.
Upload reference documents under Context > Documents so Funnel AI can search them during chat.
The chat widget stays available as you move between pages in the same workspace. Messages sync in real time between the widget and full view, so you can start in the widget and continue in full view without losing context.
Data questions and product help
Question type | What Funnel AI does |
Metrics and performance in your workspace | Queries your connected data (Custom Fields context by default) and returns charts and tables |
How Funnel works, setup, features, troubleshooting | Searches help.funnel.io and summarizes documentation; cites articles when a public link is available |
Billing, permissions, account-specific issues | Recommends how to contact Funnel Support when it cannot answer from help documentation |
By default, Funnel AI uses data in your workspace from connected sources. That gives one place to query across your setup. For platform-specific views, say so in your question or open Data Explorer from a result.
Sources used by Funnel AI to create responses
Funnel AI uses multiple sources depending on the question:
Workspace data: For metrics and performance questions, Funnel AI plans and runs queries in the workspace. It uses the Custom Fields data context by default. This includes custom dimensions and metrics and built-in fields from connected sources. Users can switch context with the
@picker in chat.Funnel help center: For product help, Funnel AI searches help.funnel.io and cites articles in sources.
Workspace documents: Funnel AI can search uploaded PDFs and other reference files under Context > Documents to ground answers. See Upload documents in Funnel AI.
Workspace instructions and skills: Persistent instructions and reusable skills load into context for every chat in the workspace. See Manage workspace instructions in Funnel AI and Manage skills in Funnel AI.
Funnel AI is scoped to one workspace per session. It cannot query across subscriptions. Conversations are per user; other workspace members cannot see your chat history. You can share outcomes by saving charts to dashboards or opening results in Data Explorer and sharing a view.

Contact your Funnel representative to disable AI features for your subscription. Your inputs are not used to train model weights. Funnel AI uses inference-only configuration: prompts and context guide outputs at runtime without updating models on customer data.
Funnel AI and your data
Before we look at how Funnel AI uses your data, it's important to understand the difference between training and inference.
Training: Permanently changes model weights using data; creates a new model that retains that data.
Inference: Runtime use of prompts and context with no weight changes; inputs are not used to train models.
Funnel AI uses inference-only configuration. AI inference runs in Funnel's secure cloud infrastructure (AWS) with GDPR-aligned handling. Your workspace data is not sold or used to train public models. Processing stays within Funnel's controlled environment for the Funnel AI product .
