Troubleshoot `Data quality` warnings in Google Data Studio

Remove incorrect Data quality warnings from Google Data Studio widgets that use the Date dimension.

Problem summary

Google Data Studio can show a data quality warning on widgets that use the Date dimension, even when Funnel aggregates the data correctly.

Error message or symptoms

Data quality (Data aggregation issue)

A warning icon appears on affected widgets that include the Date dimension.

When does this occur

  • Your Google Data Studio report uses data from a Funnel export.

  • An affected widget includes the Date dimension.

  • Google Data Studio validates the widget's aggregation against an older field schema.

Root cause

Google Data Studio introduced aggregation validation for widgets in June 2024. The validation can incorrectly flag widgets that use the older schema for Funnel's Date dimension. Funnel updated the field schema, but existing reports continue to use the older schema until you remove and re-add the field.

Solution

Remove the Date dimension

  1. Go to the affected export in Funnel.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Click Choose fields.

  4. Remove the Date dimension.

  5. Click Use these fields.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Confirm the field removal.

  8. Open the Funnel data source in Google Data Studio.

  9. Click Refresh fields.

  10. Confirm the removal of the Date dimension.

Add the Date dimension again

  1. Return to the affected export in Funnel.

  2. Add the Date dimension.

  3. Click Save.

  4. Open the Funnel data source in Google Data Studio.

  5. Click Refresh fields.

  6. Apply the change that adds Date as a new field.

  7. Refresh the Google Data Studio report.

The warning should no longer appear.
